Tampa Bay DNA Day is an event where faculty and students from the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy present an interactive, hands-on lesson about DNA, genetics, and pharmacogenomics. The purpose of this event is to allow students in the Tampa Bay area to learn about innovative advancements in the field of pharmacogenomics, foster interest in the health profession, and meet one-on-one with health professionals!

What is Tampa Bay DNA Day?

What is Pharmacogenomics?

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is the study of how an individual’s genes can affect their response to medication. PGx is a subject not currently taught in middle and high school curriculums; but we believe that it should be! As technology advances, the use of PGx will only be beneficial if consumers and patients understand what it is and how it will benefit them. Currently PGx is underutilized due to a general lack of public awareness and understanding.
